ansible

Since installing and upgrading cmdbuild is a pretty involved process i was wondering whether Technota was considering using Ansible as a possible tool for deploying cmdbuild and all related installs.

Currently i have a few ansible scripts which basicly follows the installation manual, but it's pretty much a kludge altogether and have to keep updating the scripts every time a new version gets released. It does however save me from all the nifty details when installing and configuring cmdbuild for a fresh install.

The time it takes me to install cmdbuild and all has been cut down to 15 minutes and i would like to submit this method as a new feature for consideration.

Dear Patrick,

we agree that the automation of this process is a very good idea. Until today, we've not yet evaluated Ansible as a possible candidate. Would you like to provide us your scripts so that we can do some tests?

Best regards.

I can, but I have to strip my scripts somewhat to exclude passwords and custom schema loading. I can look at it some time this week.

Please send me an e-mail so we can talk about it a bit before i post it online.

Kind regards,

Patrick

I'm looking at ansible too. Yours covers which part of cmdbuild install ? Are geoserver, shark or alfresco included ? On which platform ? My first attempts are on compiling postgres 9.3, installing tomcat 7 and cmdbuild on Centos.

If interested, I could share ... and I'm interested in reading yours.

I agree about the interest of having such a playbook for installing CMDBuild
