Is schema upgrade Supported?

Does CMDBuild supports the flexible schema?

for scenario like, if want to create a new pare group in tree with with customised child nodes with customised icons, or modify the schema, as per my requirements.

if it is possible can this done through UI or in backend (preferred the backend option).

how strong or loosely coupled schema is with User Interface?
