Oracle JDK licensing changes and OpenJDK support

Hi Everyone

This is my first post here, even though I’ve been keeping an eye on the project for a while. The company I work at is looking into a CMDB solution, and I immediately thought of using CMDbuild.

I’m setting up a test instance of CMDbuild 3.1 on Ubuntu 18.04, as that is what we’ll probably end up deploying it on.

I’m having trouble finding repositories for Oracle JDK 8, which seems related the recent licensing changes at Oracle. Part of the changes could make it illegal to use Oracle JDK in a production environment without a subscription. Has anyone looked into that yet?

On the same topic (kind of), has anyone had success using OpenJDK? The documentation specifically states that Oracle JDK1.8 is needed. From what I’ve read elsewhere the platforms should be mostly compatible.

We confirm that instead of Oracle JDK 8 you can use OpenJDK.
We have already done many installations with OpenJDK and CMDBuild works perfectly.

Just to make sure, which OpenJDK package should we be using?
